The Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research is a community of faculty, staff and students that serves the public interest by conducting research integrated with state-of-the-art data collection and analysis, developing social and behavioral research methods, and training leaders in survey and data science.

Faculty Spotlight: Reed DeAngelis

Traveling the United States as a touring musician in my teens and twenties exposed me to the legacies of mid-century urban planning. On the one hand, I witnessed starkly segregated and impoverished communities with interstate highways tearing through them, and people having to get around isolated in cars. On the other, I saw a few favored communities with access to all the amenities conducive to health and longevity: clean air, walkable infrastructure covered in lush greenspace, gourmet restaurants, museums, parks, the list goes on.
