This project aims to explore the idea of creating a research information infrastructure to support policy and decision makings in the research and development in Korea and to support the creation of AI-based service models to improve user services of ScienceON.
? A research information infrastructure refers to a system of connected databases that record research information such as research-related budget, personnel, and transactions. UMETRICS is a research information infrastructure housed in the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS) at the University of Michigan. The core of IRIS UMETRICS is record level administrative data that track direct cost sponsored project expenditures at U.S. research universities. The data are drawn directly from university sponsored project, procurement and HR data systems.
? ScienceON is an open platform developed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) for providing scholars worldwide with information about research trends and topics in science and technology by analyzing metadata and contents in various data sources such as research papers, patents, and reports.
Aim #1: This project designs a framework for developing a research information infrastructure in Korea
