Joelle Abramowitz on the cost of anxieties about rising health care costs

In a report about a survey from Consumers for Quality Care, which shows that 80% of respondents believe that health care costs continue to rise each year, and 57% of voters said they’re specifically worried about out-of-pocket costs. Joelle Abramowitz says patients are more likely to skip or delay routine medical care when premiums and deductibles are too high, “Having coverage literally saves people’s lives. Even if you’re not sick today you could be sick tomorrow. And people don’t seek preventative care; they don’t seek care when they need it, because of cost, if they don’t have coverage. And we’ve seen that.”
