Research Assistant Professor, Survey Research Center, Institute for Social Research
Sun Kyoung Lee received her Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University in 2019. After a postdoctoral associate position at the Economic Growth Center and the Department of Economics at Yale University, Sun joined SRC and the Stone Center for Inequality Dynamics (CID) as a Research Assistant Professor on September 1.
Sun implements big data and machine learning and GIS technologies to study issues of urban development, housing, and inequality in the United States. For example, Sun used machine learning to analyze decades of archival records from New York City, shedding light on the links between urban infrastructure investment, land use policy, and inequality.
During her doctoral study, Sun won several grants from the National Science Foundation to investigate various aspects of inequality during America’s urbanization.
