Getting drunk and growing up: trajectories of frequent binge drinking during the transition to young adulthood

The patterns of frequent binge drinking among 18- to 24-year-olds reflect a positive correlation between the successes and failures of negotiating the transition to adulthood. The level of binge drinking gets significantly reduced during the last phase of transition. Only 15% to 20% of the transitory population continues frequent binge drinking during the last phase while more than half are found to be frequent binge drinkers in the beginning of the transition.
