The numeric values of rating scales: A comparison of their impact in mail surveys and telephone interviews

Explored possible mode differences by comparing the impact of the numeric values of a rating scale in a mail and telephone survey. 412 adults completed the survey. Ss endorsed values that implied a more favorable opinion. The present findings replicate the phenomenon observed by N. Schwarz et al (1991).
